The third-party Amazon skills will no longer play such a large part of the user journey now Amazon has decided to place its own developments at the forefront.
The home screen of the application is where the most change will be noted, the Alexa button is now pride of place on the screen, at the top of the screen rather than at the base.
The app will also now show a list of Alexa actions from setting alarms, to accessing music all the way over to a personalised shopping list.
Those who have previously used the app will be aware this space was previously reserved for third-party skills and the weather.
The skills now live in the “more” section, which seems to announce that Amazon has admitted to the lack lustre take up of the skills functionality.
