Going to the Apple App Store this week, well you will notice an increase in the number of paid advertisements following changes to the OS.
new advert space on the App Store allows advertisers to use the search tab rather than just displaying adverts in the end search results.
If you have installed the iOS 14.5 update there is a new limit to ad tracking on your phone.
Facebook has previously seriously opposed the change made by Apple as it may favour their own advertising system.
The new Apple advert tracking requires users to give permission to the applications in order for them to track the user.
Facebook had warned that the privacy features introduced would hinder advertisers including the app makers.
“Apple’s policies leave very limited options for app developers to find customers through effective advertising – and, conveniently, Apple’s own advertising products is one of them,” Facebook said.
Reports have previously suggested that Apple advert sales could be worth more than $2 billion annually and are still growing, Apple is yet to comment.
This new feature comes as tensions grow between Apple employees and the company itself.
Conversations in 2015 between Apple employees discuss the possibility of including adverts on the App Store following Google launching this in their own Android store.
These documents emerged as part of the ongoing Apple legal battle with epic games following Apple blocking the application due to in app purchases.
Apple App store adverts were first introduced in mid 2016 more than a year after the emails internally discuss the features.
Most of Apple’s money comes from the devices and hardware it sells therefore their claim is they have no need for the finance received from advertising.
