A patent has been discovered that may change how we comprehend our privacy while driving, it comes from Apple.
The same company that brought us the Macintosh and the iPhone, seem to be developing a variety of technology to sit in a vehicles window pane.
The patent goes in to detail on a car window that is able to alter the transparency and tint, this would allow passngers to see out, but stop people looking in.
But, there’s more, the patent explains some of the automation’s, the pane will be able to alter it’s tint or effectiveness based on the external weather.
The technology patent details features such as “adjustable tint layers, adjustable reflectivity layers, and adjustable haze layers” to be “incorporated into a window.”
Further mentions of, “fixed partially reflective mirrors, fixed tint layers, and/or fixed haze layers” that “may be used in place” of the adjustable counterparts or even operate alongside them.
The patent, first filed in 2017 has only just been publicised, meaning that Apple have sat on this tech for 3 years, however didn’t we see Maclaren release something similar last year.
If the patent ever turns into a physical asset on a Apple autonomous car we will be really excited, however as with many patents, this may never leave the drawing board.
Nothing has been announced by Apple so far on how far they are through the process of completing their self-driving car.
