Apple, Google and Amazon team up on Smart Speakers

In recent years we have seen three tech giants take smart speakers to the next level, but now Apple, Google and Amazon will be teaming up in order to make their offerings easier to use.

These technology titans are working together due to the issues with incapability between them.

Zigbee Alliance and IKEA are working with the trio in order to make the mix work.

This change of heart is quite the surprise, as it means the companies are opening up the playing field, despite the fact that Google and Amazon were obviously the dominant players up till now.

Up till now it has been the choice of the manufacturer as to which smart assistant they pair up with, therefore you could have a smart light which only works with Alexa, but not Siri.

This means that up till now consumers have had to select a smart device to pair with their whole house, rather than piecemeal.

“Customers can be confident that their device of choice will work in their home and that they will be able to set up and control it with their preferred system.”, it states on the trios’ website platform.

The trio, have said that the current tech on the market will still operate even after this new initiative is instigated.

This announcement has come to light following the eve of CES which is the worlds largest consumer electronics trade show.

Security products will be the first to be brought into the new initiative, the reason for this is that consumers have a shared feeling that they want smart home tech, “to give me peace of mind to know that my home is secure”.

However, linking the devices in this way needs to maintain the high security standards which each of the giants currently upholds, fingers crossed they will be on a level playing field by late 2020 when the initiative should come to fruition.
