Apple Granted patent for social distanced selfies

Apple has been granted a patent that will allow their software to generate “synthetic group selfies,” allowing group selfies in times of social distancing.

It is yet to be understood whether the patent relates to the iPhone, iPad or other Apple device. however from what the application shows it will allow multiple images to be overlaid to generate one grouped selfie.

Interestingly the patent was not filed for the current pandemic though, it was originally filed in 2018, showing this has been in the works at Apple for a while.

Basically you will be able to take a photo of yourself and a couple of your friends, can do the same.

They can then send the images to you, the software will crop their faces and overlay them into your picture.

It sounds like a simplistic photoshop, but would definitely be deemed sensible given current global social distancing requirements.
