The Blackberry revival has been cancelled due to the startup company ending all work on the phone and actually completely shutting down.
This would have been one of the biggest changes to the mobile industry with a potential flagship handset featuring both a physical keyboard and 5G.
It has been a couple of years since we saw the eventual end of the Blackberry brand.
OnwardMobility the company behind the revamp has said, “It is with great sadness that we announce that OnwardMobility will be shutting down, and we will no longer be proceeding with the development of an ultra-secure smartphone with a physical keyboard.”
There were reports earlier this month relating to the possible cancellation of the new Blackberry, however this is a clear message from the company.
There was also speculation at the time of the first announcement that the company would still carry on and attempt to produce a different 5G Android handset with a keyboard.
However, for those who long for a physical keyboard it seems the realisation of that device will never come to be.
There is no news yet as to why the company and phone are no more, however the licence to the Blackberry branding had just expired, which may have caused the end.
