Transport for London (TfL) has declared plans for mobile users to possess 4G access across the Tube network.
Full mobile access on all platforms and tunnels from March 2020.
There are already 260 wi-fi-enabled stations on the London Underground and on TfL rail services.
Shashi Verma, chief technology officer at TfL, said: “We have begun the complicated work to permit our customers to be able to get phone reception at intervals our tunnels from March 2020, with additional stations and contours coming on-line throughout the approaching years.”
London civil authority Sadiq Khan said: “This could be a very vital step for the lots of people that use the Tube every year.
“Introducing 4G and, within the future, 5G, can facilitate Londoners and guests confine bit and acquire the most recent travel data whereas on the go.”
The trial section on the jubilee Line can stretch from City of Westminster to Canning city – excluding London Bridge and Waterloo stations.
London Bridge and Waterloo stations are soon to become totally 4G enabled later throughout 2020, subject to final approval, TfL said.
