Facebook’s Android app has been looked into and an engineer has spotted some code which may show that means “Likes” may no longer be a thing.
The code, which has not been activated was found Jane Manchun Wong.
Instagram ran this test earlier this year restricting the view of likes to certain parties.
Certain studies have shown that prior to this new solution, the mental health of Instagram users has been affected by like numbers.
“It takes time to develop, observe, research and release experimental features like this,” said Miss Wong
“Experimental features could come and go. But I am certain hiding the public like counts will be beneficial to the digital wellbeing of a large chunk of users.”
Instagram are not yet prepared to display the findings from the tests so far..
“We hope this test will remove the pressure of how many likes a post will receive, so you can focus on sharing the things you love,” Mia Garlick, Facebook Australia and New Zealand director of policy, stated when the trial was first announced.
