Facebook announced earlier this year that all of their apps would be singing from the same hymn sheet. Rebuilding Facebook Messenger, Instagram and Whatsapp “at their most basic levels”, claimed Zuckerberg. This announcement has quelled the fears of those who were under the belief facebook would be combining the 4 into a mega social network.
Instead what will be happening in the rebuild is that the best parts of each app will be shared but no content other than that chosen by the user, which means all of Facebook’s apps now use the same data-sharing APIs.
So when you change your mood on Whatsapp you can automatically update Facebook, saving time and letting more people know when you’ve had a good day.
