The Samsung Galaxy Flip Z will boast something no other smartphone has to date, a folding glass screen.
Up till now all handsets and tablets when introduced into the foldable world have become reliant on folding plastic screens.
However, this led to many issues, both in development and use of the devices, including nasty feel and easy denting.
Glass was always deemed to be the future material, but developers couldn’t quite get it to wrk, until now.
The new Samsung will offer, “ultra-thin glass”, this does not mean the resilience is diminished as Samsung claim it will withstand 200,000 folds.
The glass is said by Samsung to be, “revolutionary flexible glass,” and that it is “built to last.”
However, as this is new technology it is yet to be proven that it will be quite so hardened, and may weaken over time.
This is yet to be decided as the solution for foldable phones, but it does mark quite a significant occasion.
