Smartphone’s have been getting gradually more and more expensive, especially with the new breed of folding phones, however this could all change with the foldable phone from the Escobar family.
Pablo Escobar’s brother has just announced that he is launching the worlds cheapest foldable phone the Escobar Fold 1, and at just $350 he may well be right.
Roberto Escobar has released many interesting, yet curious products so far, with a flamethrower coming out just this year.
He shares a statement with Digital Trends in relation to the new foldable phone and his reasons behind it.
“I have told many people that I would beat Apple and I will. I cut the networks and retailers, to sell to customers phones that can fold for only $349, phones which in stores cost thousands of dollars by Samsung and others. This is my goal, to beat Apple, and by doing it myself like I always have.”
By far the cheapest foldable phone on the market, the Escobar Fold 1 will be introduced at a starting price of just $349 (£270).
Spec wise what we know is that it has a 7.8-inch flexible AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1444. Roberto has said that screen is “unbreakable”.
It will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 855 chipset with up to 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, which can be further expanded via microSD.
And camera wise it wont be lacking in that department with a 16MP f/1.8 primary camera and a 20MP secondary lens.
Finally the shell will have some gold in and an Escobar logo just to remind you of the extravagance of the family name.
Unlike the iPhone when released the Escobar Fold 1 will be unlocked to all networks from the get go and with free world wide shipping.
