Samsung Smart TV’s, not so Smart Security

Samsung have sent out a reminder to its Smart Tv owners that they should be scanning the machines regularly to prevent malware. “Prevent malicious software attacks on your TV by scanning for viruses on your TV every few weeks,” a (since deleted) tweet from the company’s US support account was posted alongside a video attachment which demonstrated the laborious task.

How can Samsung expect a user to follow the convoluted and difficult process and why have they yet to automate this?

Back in 2017 the CIA developed “Weeping Angel” which was capable of listening in to conversations near Samsung Smart TV’s. I know we are all used to scanning the PC, but really I don’t want to have to come home from work and scan the TV also. But, we do entrust them with a lot of secure information, credit card information, viewing history. What do you think Smart or Dumb?
