There is soon to be a small and fast version of Outlook called Outlook Lite as a new application for Android.
Microsoft has included the new software in the Microsoft 365 roadmap, and has broken down the concept for the application.
Microsoft says it will be, “an Android app that brings the main benefits of Outlook in a smaller app size with fast performance for low-end devices on any network.”
Due to be released internationally this month, it has been confirmed that the rollout has already started in some countries.
The Outlook application will be limited to only Outlook, Hotmail, Live, and MSN accounts, and will not be capable of supporting work or school accounts.
Facebook or Meta has already created a slimmed down Facebook app for Android and they were the first of the big tech companies to do so.
In 2015 the application was launched as just a 1MB application, something that is almost unheard of in this day and age.
Google was quick to jump on the bandwagon and brought out the ”Go” apps, which are lightweight Andoid apps.
Outlook for mobile is one of the most popular applications for Android and currently has more than half a billion downloads on the Google Play Store alone.
