Subaru has finally unveiled the first teaser photos of their inaugural electric car the Solterra EV due to market in 2022.
Subaru has been busy codeveloping with another Japanese car manufacturer Toyota.
Although we know the date of the planned release Subaru have been very shy in showing the car off too much in the new press images.
The car is due to be arriving in Europe, Canada, United States and Japan upon release in 2022.
The styling of the new car so far gives hints that it will look similar two current Subaru SUV’s on the market, although he does look a little smaller.
Subaru are yet to unveil any specifications or pricing on the new EV, however as with most historic Subaru’s we would expect it to be able to handle itself off road.
Like most other manufacturers we expect Subaru to use this new EV as an excuse to completely revamp their interior into a fresh modern design.
Much unlike some of Subaru’s historic vehicles this car will be economically friendly to drive the name of it comes from the Latin for sun and earth.
The first shared platform Toyota and Subaru have worked on so far will be the new BZ4X, this vehicle is also due out in 2022.
Toyota will be releasing the e-TNGA and Subaru the e-Subaru both built on this platform benefiting from Subaru’s experience with all-wheel drive.
It is expected to be a hybrid and will be using Toyota’s years of developing battery tech to assist in the development, let’s hope it drives a little better than the Prius.
