Tesla has officially opened the Texas Gigafactory that will allow the delivery of the Tesla Cybertruck product to the masses.
“We are really entering a new phase of Tesla’s future,” Musk said at the event, going on to say “I can’t wait to see this baby in production, it’s going to be epic.”
There were a couple of big unveilings from the opening event, including an all new version of the Cybertruck, a roadster beginning production next year and a robotaxi, but little information was shared on that.
New York, Nevada and California already have Tesla factories, however this will be the largest factory in the US.
“We need a place where we can be really big, and there’s no place like Texas,” Musk had said. “We going to move to a truly massive scale.”
The land around the factory cost $5m, but the build cost an astounding $1.1bn, there is some eye watering expenses.
Tesla has already been under some big movements in the past 12 months with the official headquarters moving from California to Texas.
