However, this doesn’t mean he is looking to come home just yet, he is still only likely to be 32 million miles away next year. So very unlikely we will be catching him. The next date for possible interception is scheduled for 2047.
Of course we are likely to be leaving the earth for deep space flights before then, so maybe they will see him in 2030 when the first deep space mission is scheduled or we can catch up with him on Mars when we move there.
