The Google 5A 5G has officially been announced, but only because Google reacted to a rumour that it had been cancelled.
To be honest it was almost the most undramatic unveiling of a Smartphone in history, with Google simply responding to a with a formal statement.
”Pixel 5a 5G is not cancelled. It will be available later this year in the U.S. and Japan and announced in line with when last year’s a-series phone was introduced.”
It was announced by independent sources last week that due to chip shortages Google were going to cancel the handset altogether.
However it seems they are only doing so for the European market, continuing with release in America and Japan.
The rumours floating about the phone may not have you longing for it anyway, with claims that it is not vastly dissimilar to the Pixel 4A 5G.
This is being done in a bid to keep the costs of the handset down and to ensure Google can maintain a breadth of offerings across their range.
Coming with a 6.2-inch FHD+ display, dual rear cameras, and a headphone jack unlike many of its competitors.
The big rumour in the news at the moment is the next Pixel, the Pixel 6, rumoured to have its own chip system and to become the true flagship.
Fitted with the “Whitechapel” which is a system enclosed on a Google designed chip.
