All over the US lawmakers are in demand for information to spread light on the catastrophic Twitter hack on Wednesday of this week.
Senator Ed Markey in a statement Thursday said, “Twitter must fully disclose what happened and what it is doing to ensure this never happens again.”
Wednesday marked a staggering occasion where Twitter accounts of major companies and high-profile individuals including, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Elon Musk and even Bill Gates were all compromised in part of a bitcoin scam.
Twitter has made a statement regarding the attack and those compromised parties, however for the powers that be this is not enough, and demands have been made to investigate what exactly caused this and how it happened.
Twitter has said they will be looking into this further and are looking to unearth all information relevant to how these hackers may have managed such a criminal feat.
US lawmakers are not content with this and are adamant that Twitter will not set the pace of the investigation.
Senator Josh Hawley sent a letter to the Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey , requesting plans to be presented on how Twitter will ensure an attack such as this will not happen again.
“I am concerned that this event may represent not merely a coordinated set of separate hacking incidents but rather a successful attack on the security of Twitter itself, A successful attack on your system’s servers represents a threat to all of your users’ privacy and data security.”
It has already been posed to Twitter that end to end encryption needs to be considered on the direct messaging area of the application.
