In the US Walmart have started using facial detection artificial intelligence to cut theft.
Walmart have now rolled this into over 1000 stores in the US basically a set of cameras are placed around the stores, much like regular CCTV, however these cameras are able to recognise when items are placed into a basket or bag without first being scanned by the cashier or self scan units.

Everseen supplied the technology behind the new Walmart scheme, in which the cameras are able to track items opposed to people, an employee is alerted when the system detects an anomaly.
The retailer said this has massively reduced theft from their stores, how long will it be until we see this kind of tech in the co-op?
