WhatsApp has declared that their application is now used by more than 2 billion people worldwide, that over a quarter of the world population.
This is a new milestone for the Facebook owned messaging app, and marks quite the achievement.
On estimate there are roughly 7.5 billion people on planet earth, meaning WhatsApp has over a quarter of them as customers, making it the most downloaded app on earth.
In a blog post announcing the milestone, WhatsApp hail their security as being one of the causes of this phenomenon stating they, “will not compromise on security”.
However, as we know all too well their security simply has not been strong enough to stop hacks in recent times.
This then seems the perfect time for the government to be enforcing the new regulations for tech giants to be regulated by Ofcom.
The bad news is that this new unveiling might give Facebook a reason to look back on plans to monetize the messaging service.
