The Xiaomi brand have filed a patent for a solar panel in a smartphone.
Very few companies have so far experimented with a smartphone which is greener, so Xiaomi are taking quite a leap here. It also begs the question, what is the point, how often do you leave your phone out face down for it to have time to charge.
The patent images show a full display with no bezels for a camera slot, which is curious as there doesn’t seem to be anywhere for it to pop out either.
We like the idea, but think its best to see it working before saying it will make waves in the market. Hopefully, Xiaomi can get this phone to shops soon and we can give it a test for you
