To follow up on our story a few weeks ago about the partnership of electric vehicle development between Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW). JLR are now pumping money into their Bromwich plant in Birmingham to the tune of hundreds of millions.
The initial project planned for the plant will be electrifying the Jaguar XJ, further to that the move will allow the plant to continue employing 2,700 workers stated JLR.
JLR’s chief executive.said, “The future of mobility is electric and, as a visionary British company, we are committed to making our next generation of zero-emission vehicles in the UK,”
No date has been given for the completion of the overhaul task and we are still unsure whether they will be developing an entirely new vehicle or just adapting the existing as Aston Martin did.
JLR’s announcement seems quite mistimed as a report which was released 2 days ago showed that low emission and electric vehicle sales was not as good in the UK as first anticipated.
