Apple has hit yet more records with the sales over Christmas, the final quarter of 2020 saw sales hit a soaring £81bn up 21% YoY.
The pandemic has forced many people onto technology rather than regular public house festivities.
Apple iPhones now are in the hands of over 1 billion people, the iPhone 12 played a large part with exceptional timing leading many to purchase one in the run up to Christmas.
The new 5G enabled devices also struck a chord in China, with sales ramping up.
Apple has now retaken second place in international smartphone shipments, a position which was held by Huawei in 2019.
However stricter sanctions against the formerly Android OS company has led to a drop in customer interest.
“The products are doing very well all around the world,” Luca Maestri, Apple’s chief financial officer has said.
“As we look ahead into the March quarter, we’re very optimistic.”
