Apple may be looking to convert to the USB-C going forward despite having pledged allegiance to the Apple Lightening Port in the past.
Mark Gurman recently revealed that it may not be for this years line up, bt testing is underway likely for 2023.
The switch is quite expected though as Apple has already moved iPads across to the USB-C.
The EU also recently released a proposal for all new smartphones to operate with the same ports due to environmental damage of having multiple varieties available.
The USB-C is not a downgrade from Lightening as some may presume, it is actually able to offer faster transfer speeds than the Apple alternative.
Apple may also be looking at the possibility of a phone without any ports, this will be a big change as they were one of the first manufacturers to drop the headphone slot too.
