Samsung has had the launch of their new handset leaked, a vertically fold and the spec sheet have been made available.
The Flip Z will have a 6.7 inch screen offering a 22:9 aspect ration, the screen will be a foldable OLED unit with a full HD 2636 x 1080 resolution.
The new fold will also be built using a thin glass display panel as opposed to the plastic panel, which caused issues in the original Galaxy Fold.
The Flip Z will also have a central punch hole selfie camera located to the top of the screen, The phone, like the Motorola Razr, will also feature a screen for when the clamshell design is closed, this is for notifications and telling you the time.
In terms of the hardware you can’t see, there will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 plus, which is not the best, alongside 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
As withe most handsets these days the Samsung will come with the USB-C, it seems Apple are one of the few to hold out on the USB-C front.
Unfortunately, Samsung have also ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack on this handset signalling that we really have seen the end of phones with wired headphones.
5G is also missing on the handset, which isn’t a huge surprise as this is being reserved for the flagship handsets by most manufacturers.
The Flip Z will however, feature 3 cameras two 12 megapixel cameras on the outside one of which will be wide angle and a 10 mp selfie lens.
So all in all the handset does not have the flagship specs you may be expecting from Samsung, however that isn’t the market that they are trying to compete with, the Motorola Razr are going for trendsetters, and there are few devices aiming at futuristic style and unique designs such a a vertically flipping device.
The Flip Z is due to come to the market on the 14th of February 8 days after the Razr and the price is expected to be very similar, ££900.
