Samsung has officially revealed the much awaited S22 , S22 Plus and S22 Ultra with similar designs to last years models but with some hardware upgrades.
The Note range has been dropped from the Samsung line up, but the S22 Ultra has been brought in now as a replacement.
The S21 released last year didn’t quite live up to the hype and thus didn’t quite hit the expectations set out by Samsung.
But, this year they are hoping for change, both the S22 and the S22 Plus will come with a 2340×1080 resolution display with sizing of 6.1” and 6.6” respectively.
The Camera will now be in a contour designed housing and match the colour of the overall handset and the phone will also feature Gorilla Glass Victus Plus on the front and back of the handset, meaning a more refined feel than the plastic housing last year.
There will be a range of colours available including;black, white, green, and pink gold.
The standard S22 will be at a lesser cost starting at £769, the S22 Plus will be £949 and the Ultra will be coming in at £1149, both S22 and the S22 Plus will carry 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM as standard, however this can be upgraded to 256GB is required.
Samsung is getting quite carried away regarding the camera, with a 50MP camera and a 23% larger sensor than last year.
There will also be a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 12mp ultra-wide, the big change is the introduction of “Pixel Binning”, which enhances the quality of night shots.
Both models of the S22 and S22 Ultra will also have 120Hz capacity refresh rate, which can be reduced dependant on content to increase battery life.
The S22 Plus will be able to produce 1750 nits, whereas the S22 can only manage 1300, however this is unlikely to effect usage of the handset in well lit conditions.
All of the handsets will be running Android 12, but in terms of the battery the standard handset will lack a lot of mAh with only 3,700 compared to the S22 Plus 4,500 and the Ultras 5,000.
So does that change your mind on the flagship device for 2022.
