The LG Rollable phone is on route following LG teasing it as the CES this week and confirming it will be available in 2021.
LG has said the screen is a “unique resizable screen” able to extend from a phone to a tablet display.
Unlike the Folding handsets like the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the screen rolls up and down.
“Our management wanted to show that it is a real product, as there were many rumors around the rollable phone,” says an LG spokesperson in a statement to Nikkei. “As it is released at CES 2021, I can tell that it will be launched this year.”
LG has been working with rollable tech for some time now, introducing the rollable television to us toward the end of 2020.
It’s a very different strategy from the LG Wing, which was released last year.
Now that LG has confirmed they are working on rollable tech it won’t be long before the competition start to introduce their interest, Oppo and TCL have also mentioned they are interested in rollable devices.
