Microsoft release their take on foldable

Microsoft have been hitting the headlines with their new tech, the next generation of Surface devices.

There has been some ups and downs so far with foldable tech, however Microsoft think they may have the answer. The Surface Neo tablet and Surface Duo its smaller cousin, which is in essence the next Microsoft handset.

The Surface Neo is a larger tablet device, however the Duo is basically two 5.6 inch displays with are split by a very obvious central hinge which allows it to unfold into a 9.3 inch split working surface.

For some the handset will not reach their expectations for a foldable handset, such as the new Sony, Huawei or the Samsung, but these handset have experiences “Issues” in development of the foldable display, which do not play a part in the Microsoft design.

Another great thing about the new Surfaces is that it’s not just Microsoft bringing you the unit, as they have partnered with Google to bring “the best of Android into one product,” Panos Panay the chief product officer of Microsoft Corporation’s Microsoft Devices group, said at the NYC event. Meaning the new machines will be able to host all Android apps.

Microsoft have not specifically said what the Surface Duo will be running, we know the Neo will be on Windows 10X optimised for the duel screen, however the Duo may will end up on Android.

“With Surface Duo we are building upon Android to marry cutting edge hardware with familiar software and services,”

“We’re excited to work with developers and the industry to create the next wave of dual-screen computing and unlock a new era of mobile creativity.” said Microsoft.

That’s about all the information we have so far, although we do know the Duo will take calls, we don’t know whether it will take a sim. Are we going to get a new Windows phone?
